It's all about blending the old with the new, the classic with the contemporary, and of course, adding a dash of Maltese charm. Our Instagram has just showcased a special post, a reimagined version of the iconic Steamboat Willie, featuring none other than our beloved Beppe. Why, you ask? Why We Did It:
2024 marked a significant moment in the world of animation and copyright. The legendary Steamboat Willie, starring Mickey Mouse, entered the public domain, sparking a global trend in the online art scene. We at Archipals couldn't resist joining in! Our aim? To give our unique perspective, blending the charm of Steamboat Mickey with our adventurous Beppe, infused with a touch of Maltese magic.
The Creative Process:
Our journey began with brainstorming sessions, where initial ideas flew around like sparks of creativity. We initially toyed with the concept of a Spiderman-pointing meme featuring our characters. But, as creativity would have it, this evolved into a more intriguing scenario – Beppe charming Mickey’s girlfriend, Minnie Mouse.
Once the idea was set, it was time to bring it to life. Our in-house 3D designer, Rob, took charge of blocking , posing and finally rendering Mickey & Beppe in stunning 3D. Then, Zack, the creative genius behind the Archipals, sketched out the original Steamboat scene, adding a picturesque Valletta backdrop. The final touch was combining these elements – the 3D models and the hand-drawn background, finishing with some expert shading. The result? An artistic blend that's uniquely Archipals!
Beyond Steamboat Willie: Archipals in GTA 6
This isn't our first rodeo in merging worlds. We previously ventured into another virtual realm, this time the highly anticipated world of GTA 6. As the trailer for the game dropped, we rode the wave of excitement by integrating Beppe and Ninu into scenes from the trailer. The outcome was nothing short of spectacular, merging our Maltese heroes with a globally anticipated game.
